Echo Tap

A survival arcade game where your previous runs return as ghosts that replay your exact movements

About the Game

Echo Tap is a survival arcade game built around a simple idea: your past movement becomes your future obstacle.

Each round challenges the player to move a cyan dot and survive for a short duration. When the round ends, the exact path taken is recorded and replayed as a ghost in the next round.

Over time, the arena fills with these ghosts, transforming earlier decisions into increasingly complex spatial challenges. What begins as a simple survival task becomes a test of planning, efficiency, and memory.

Runs are short and replayable, encouraging experimentation and refinement. Cleaner movement creates safer future rounds, while chaotic movement compounds difficulty.

Echo Tap is about learning from your past, adapting in the present, and surviving longer each time.

Features

Your past runs become obstacles
Self-generated difficulty
Round-based survival
Spatial planning and memory
Increasing arena complexity
Minimal neon visual design

How It Works

Echo Tap is a round-based survival game where every completed round permanently changes the challenge. During each round, the player moves a cyan dot using tap input and must survive for a short duration.

  • Survive - Move your cyan dot by tapping anywhere on the screen and survive the round
  • Your path becomes a ghost - After each round, your movement path is recorded and replayed as a colorful ghost obstacle
  • The arena fills with your past - Every new round adds another ghost, increasing difficulty and reducing safe space
  • Avoid collisions - Touching a ghost ends the run. Efficient movement early makes later rounds more manageable

When a round ends, the path taken by the player is recorded and becomes a ghost that repeats those exact movements in future rounds. Each new round adds another ghost, gradually increasing complexity and reducing safe space. The challenge emerges from learning how your own past decisions shape the arena.

Mistakes are immediate, but improvement comes from cleaner movement and better planning.

Design Philosophy

Echo Tap is about navigating the consequences of your own movement.

The game focuses on self-generated difficulty, spatial memory, path optimization, short survival rounds, and emergent complexity from simple input. Instead of random obstacles, Echo Tap creates challenge from the player's previous actions.

The neon visual style highlights movement history and makes each ghost visually distinct, allowing players to recognize patterns and anticipate danger as the arena evolves. Effects are designed to reinforce player actions and highlight moments of success or failure without distracting from gameplay.
